Exercise Workbooks
For the 2017-2018 school year, TAN was able to provide educational workbooks for students at Wuhidet in grades 1 to 4 for the first time in the school’s history. Each student received four workbooks covering Amharic (the local language), mathematics, science, and English. The material included will last the entire academic year and is used as a complement to their textbooks. Students now have the ability to work independently in the classroom and to complete homework assignments.
Students with hearing impairments were also considered and given workbooks tailored to their specific needs. This allowed for a more inclusive classroom experience and provided them an opportunity to follow along with the curriculum. Additionally, family members are also able to engage in their children's homework assignments, allowing them to continue their education at home.
One Pack for One Child
Take Action Now was first connected to One Pack for One Child back in 2016. One Pack for One Child has worked to provide school packs to disenfranchised youth in Ethiopia for the past seven years. After multiple conversations between our teams, we worked to link One Pack for One Child with Wuhidet Kindergarten and Primary School. With their tireless work, all 414 students were provided school packs in time for the 2016-2017 school year. These packs were bundled with all of the essentials - exercise books, pens, pencils, sharpeners, and erasers.
One Pack for One Child has also provided these packs for the 2017-2018 school year and will work to continuing to providing packs to Wuhidet students every year as funding permits. This commitment goes beyond school supplies - One Pack for One Child has set out to ensure that these children have the opportunity to succeed in pursuing their education.
